Occupy Atlanta Turns Down Congressman John Lewis' Request to Speak

In lieu of hearing words from Lewis, Atlanta's new Occupy group agreed to stay on track with a set agenda. This video shows what happened.

The Occupy movement may not ever come to Cascade Heights but it has made a statement to one of our most esteemed residents:

On Saturday, Occupy Atlanta—which set up camp Friday at Woodruff Park—voted to turn down a request from Lewis to speak to the group. Representatives did invite Lewis to speak later by the Congressman said he had made other plans.

Occupy Atlanta is a branch of Occupy Wall Street, a group that began protesting corporate greed and social and economic disparities in the United States last month.
