Heckelmann transitioned into the mortgage industry in 2007 after working for a real estate firm for a year. Prior to that she worked six years in the multi-family industry as a National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP) and six years in retail management.

A native of Atlanta, Heckelmann lives just outside of downtown with her husband and two children. Her passion is music and she also enjoys photography, traveling and collecting antique bottles. She also dedicates time to her neighborhood association and supports the Piedmont Park Conservancy.
