Southwest Atlanta Team Places in Atlanta Track Club Ekiden Relay

The 5-member "Mass Weapons of Self Destruction" won coveted Ekiden mugs at the annual Ekiden Relay at Piedmont Park.

Five members of the South Fulton Running Partners on Sunday placed in the top 25 percent of the competitive Atlanta Track Club Ekiden Team Relay and received covered division mugs in recognition of their accompishment.

Donald Webster (Captain), Madoshi Jones,  Shannon Golden, Priscilla Edmondson and Euleen Josiah-Tanner were the "Mass Weapons of Self Destruction" and competed in the open mixed division. Race results for the 2011 relay were not available at press time; PDF copies of the 2010 relay results and the 2009 relay results are posted on this site.

An ekiden is a long-distance relay with roots in Japan. The Atlanta Ekiden attracts top runners from across the metro area and Georgia every year.

The event includes teams of five members. Each individual of a five-member team runs one leg on a 3.4-mile course around Piedmont Park.

Members of the South Fulton Running Partners comprise the oldest mostly-black recreational walking and running club in the country.

The Partners are active in several community sports and fitness events and are the race managers of the Fulton Family 5k Walk and 10k Run and the annual Sickle Cell 7k Road Race at Welcome All Park.
