Survivors Keep Moving on Mays Track

The daily walkers on the Mays High School track aren't just fitness fans, they are survivors of cancer, high blood pressure and other ailments that will not defeat them.

The Mays High School track is a well-known southwest Atlanta fitness site.

People come every morning and evening and walk and walk and walk (and, sometimes, run) around and arounnd and around the track.

But there is more to just looking fit going on at this community gathering place.

Get just one person off the track for a quick track and you are likely to hear a great story of survival.

On Thursday, I met two wonderful women: Adamsville resident Lillie Tiller, a very fit 86-year-old Fulton County Schools retiree with arthritis, and a Doris Lopez, a tone breast cancer survivor and 1967 Price High School graduate.
