Three Meetings Southwest Atlanta Should Attend, Track Thursday Tonight
Two important APS meetings and a third by an Atlanta councilwoman are scheduled for tonight.

No one has figured out a way to be three places at once yet but, if you live in southwest Atlanta, tonight may be the time. Here are three meeting your network of family and friends should have on the agenda:
1) "Emergency" Schools Town Hall Meeting:  6 p.m., West Hunter Street Baptist Church, 1040 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. District 2 APS School Board Representative Khaatim S. El will meet with parents and the community about the SACS Accreditation for the city's public high schools, CRCT Investigation for the public elementary and middle schools and the Atlanta Public Schools' search for a new superintendent. "It's time for ACTION," El said in an e-mail release he circulated this week. "We'll talk about how we can work together through these current challenges. Stay informed about what's happening in the school system. Get information for your child. And discuss how we can support our schools and make them better. 2) Atlanta School Board Ethics Violation Meeting: 7 p.m.,Center for Learning and Leadership Auditorium, 130 Trinity Ave. The Ethics Commission of the Board of Education of the Atlanta Independent School System will conduct a meeting to determine whether to initiate an investigation on an alleged ethics violation by a board member. Though the board's release on the meeting does not provide a name, board member Courtney English was sanctioned last year for using his an APS-issued credit card for personal expenses. For more information on the meeting, call the school board at 404-802-3500 or go to the school's website, www.atlanta.k12.ga.us.

3) District 11 Town Hall Meeting: 6 p.m., Ben Hill United Methodist Church, 2099 Fairburn Rd. Hosted by District 11 Councilwoman Keisha Lance Bottoms. In attendance, to answer constituents questions, will be representatives from Solid Waste Services, the Bureau of Code Enforcement-Housing Code Department, the Department of Watershed Management, the city's Fire-Rescue Department, the Atlanta Police Department, the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability, the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency, Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, Fulton County Commissioner Bill Edwards, the Atlanta Development Agency and the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services. For more information,  contact the office of District 11 at 404-330-6054 or e-mail Lance Bottoms at kbottoms@atlantaga.gov.
