Urban League of Greater Atlanta Hosts 9th annual Spirit of the League Luncheon Multi-media talent Rashan Ali to receive the Champion Award

Atlanta, GA (June 10, 2019) - Multi-media talent Rashan Ali will accept the Spirit of the League Champion award at the Urban League of Greater Atlanta’s 9th annual Spirit of the League luncheon on June 20, at noon, at the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta.

Under the theme “Investing in Youth Today … Empowering Young Adults Tomorrow,” the League also will honor five young adults who excelled in the agency’s youth empowerment programs. Their inspiring stories serve to drive the League’s success in forming partnerships with public and private-sector supporters to build strong communities, and to help youth and young adults move toward economic security.

“I am always humbled by the stories of our program participants that we share at the Spirit of the League luncheon,” said Nancy Flake Johnson, president, and CEO of the ULGA. “They prove to us that we are effectively addressing today’s challenges just as our founders did nearly 100 years ago.
“As we increase our partnerships, we will be able to serve more people who turn to the League for a chance at a better life. And by opening the doors of opportunity to everyone, we will propel our city and region to greater heights that benefit all of us.”

Rashan Ali, well-known in sports and entertainment media, is being recognized for her professional accomplishments and her nonprofit, Sporty Girls, Inc. The organization encourages girls ages 8 to 18 to participate in a range of sports activity to enhance their life skills. She also is the author of a children’s book, Piper Sky’s Pink Popsicle Shoes.
