1.8-Magnitude Earthquake Felt In Forsyth County
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office confirmed a 1.8-magnitude earthquake was felt Wednesday night in northeast Forsyth County.
FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office confirmed a 1.8-magnitude earthquake was felt Wednesday night in northeast Forsyth County.
Sheriff Ron Freeman wrote on the department's Facebook page Wednesday night saying, "yes folks that was indeed a 1.8 earthquake many of you felt around Northeast Forsyth tonight. At least according to our friends at the U.S. Geological Service. Dozens of calls to 911 and FCSO but thankfully no damage reported.
"Remember it’s 2020, don’t act like y’all are surprised. What’s next a Blizcanenadoquake? Remember only 22 days left in this year."

One of the most recent earthquakes in Georgia happened in February in Gwinnett County.
The United States Geological Survey recorded a 2.3 magnitude earthquake near Lilburn. The quake had a depth of around three miles and was centered 18 miles northeast of Atlanta, according to the Center for Earthquake Research and Information at the University of Memphis.
