Atlanta Real Estate Market Predictions for 2016

Atlanta was once again considered one of the fastest growing real estate markets in 2015, with some sources reporting double digit increases over the last few years. With such a speedy recovery, the outlook for Atlanta has been consistently bright; however, while the rapid increase in home-price appreciation has plateaued to some degree, predictions for 2016 still show continued gains.

According to the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a non-profit research organization who annually publishes its Emerging Trends in Real Estate Report, Atlanta was named the #5 real estate “market to watch” in 2016.

The ULI, which generally focuses on sustainable development and regularly monitors commercial and residential real estate trends across the nation, developed their rankings based upon feedback from a large pool of real estate executive and housing experts.

With that, in its recent 12-month forecast for home prices in various markets, Zillow has predicted that Atlanta home prices will rise an additional 6% in 2016. While this is below the 11-12% increases we’ve seen over the past year, it appears to reflect predictions for the nation as a whole and means that the market is still expanding, albeit at a slower pace.

Still, while some forecasters expressed dismay at the fall from double-digit increases, the Atlanta Journal Constitution stated that, although things may slow down a bit, the standard forecast continues to favor growth over stagnation.
