Atlanta Weather Forecast: Stormy Monday ... and Wednesday ... and Thursday ...

ATLANTA, GA — Talk about April showers, huh? The Atlanta area will be getting its share and then some this work week — when almost every day will call for a chance of rain and thunderstorms.

At least it won't be a freezing rain.

Low temperatures are set to linger in the upper 50s and lower 60s this week, with highs reaching up into the upper 70s.

Monday and Monday night are the safest bets for rainfall the entire week. By Monday evening, the chance for thunderstorms will be around 80 percent for the Atlanta area.

Here's a look at your work week weather forecast, from the National Weather Service:

Monday: A chance of rain and thunderstorms, then showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. High near 74. Southeast wind 10 to 15 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 20 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Monday night, showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3 a.m. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Low around 60. South wind around 15 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 25 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. West wind around 10 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 15 m.p.h. Mostly clear Tuesday night, with a low around 57.

Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 77. Showers and thunderstorms likely Wednesday night, mainly after 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 9 .am, then a slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Thursday night, a 20 percent chance of showers before 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Mostly clear Friday night, with a low around 41.
