Christmas Toys: Here Are The Most Popular Gifts In Georgia

ATLANTA, GA — With Christmas morning nearly here, time is running out to find the perfect gift for the loved ones in your life.

Reviews.org, an online platform that makes recommendations on products and services for households, found each state’s most popular Christmas toy.

The most sought-after toy in Georgia for the 2019 holiday season is the LOL Surprise Dolls, which first hit the scene last Christmas. "A sphere the size of a bocce ball that consists of seven layers of packaging," is how The Atlantic describes the LOL Surprise Dolls. "Kids peel away the layers of crinkly plastic, which contain stickers and messages and tiny accessories that are surely crunched under many a parental foot, and find a small, nearly naked plastic doll with giant Bette Davis eyes who measures just a few inches tall."

There's a multitude of playsets for sale on Amazon, Target and other retailers, including a supermarket, care clinic, bakery, pizza chef, science lab and more. The Barbie glam getaway house includes a kitchenette, bedroom and en suite bathroom and engage girls' decorating skills, says the maker.

The most popular Christmas toy in the United States? Nerf Gun earned the top spot.

“If you thought we’d left these bright plastic guns behind in the ‘90s (along with Starter Jackets, Goosebumps and VHS tapes), you were wrong,” the authors of the study wrote. “Nerf was cool when your parents were kids and when you were a kid, and it’s still cool today.”

Nerf Gun was the most popular Christmas toy in 11 states.

Trailing behind the timeless Nerf Gun, the Nintendo Switch was the most popular toy in five states. American Girl Dolls and Play-Doh finished tied for third as the most popular toy in four states.

The Toy Story 4 Buzz Lightyear action figure, Scruff-a-Luvs, Owleez and Barbie Playsets also all earned the honor as the most popular toy in multiple states.

Reviews.org put together the study by analyzing data through Google Trends, specifically looking for the most-searched toys on the platform this holiday season.
