Congress takes BOLD Bipartisan Action!
Offering New Hope to Individuals and Families Impacted by Alzheimer's Disease

Congress took decisive action by passing the Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act (S. 2076).
Endorsed by the Alzheimer’s Association, BOLD will establish a robust public health response to Alzheimer’s’ disease and related dementias. It will create an infrastructure across the country to implement effective Alzheimer's interventions, including increasing early detection and diagnosis, reducing risk, and preventing avoidable hospitalizations. Importantly, BOLD will also establish Alzheimer’s centers for excellence and facilitate much needed data collection. Ultimately, the societal infrastructure that BOLD puts in place will improve quality of life for the millions of Americans living with Alzheimer’s, as well as the millions more who serve as their caregivers.
The BOLD Act was introduced in November of 2017 and quickly gained bi-partisan support as Alzheimer’s advocates across the country shared their stories with legislators. The Senate passed the BOLD Act thirteen months later on December 12th, and the House of Representatives passed/agreed on BOLD on December 19th. BOLD is expected to be signed into law by the President in the next few days.

Costing $277 billion in 2018, Alzheimer’s ranks as the most expensive disease in the United States. Over 5.7 million Americans currently have Alzheimer’s disease and every 65 seconds someone in the United States develops the disease. 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
Join me in thanking Congress, and especially Rep. Rob Woodall, for taking BOLD action to address Alzheimer’s and other dementias by supporting this important legislation!
