Couple Found Dead On Boat In Lake Lanier: Reports

GoFundMe page set up; authorities blame carbon monoxide poisoning for deaths of couple found Monday on Lake Lanier, say media reports.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — Authorities say that carbon monoxide poisoning likely led to the deaths of a Forsyth County couple found in a boat Monday evening on Lake Lanier, according to media reports. Rangers with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources discovered the bodies of Julie Wright, 40, and Andrew Maronge, 39, at about 8 p.m. Monday, WSB-TV Channel 2 reported.

The two were found in the front cabin of a 24-foot Bayliner cabin cruiser anchored off the Three Sisters island chain in Lake Lanier, say media reports.

Wright and Maronge were engaged, according to a GoFundMe account set up in the couple's name.

A spokeswoman with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said no foul play is suspected, Channel 2 reported, but the office is investigating the case. She said it appears the couple died from carbon monoxide poisoning, though that won't be definite until autopsies are complete.

Family and friends are raising funds through GoFundMe to support Maronge's son, Riley. To make a donation, click here.
