Current, Upcoming Projects To Benefit Forsyth Motorists

State and local officials talked transportation Wednesday at a summit hosted by the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, Forsyth County Government and South Forsyth Rotary Club.

Forsyth County Department of Engineering Director John Cunard joined Georgia Department of Transportation and the State Road and Tollway Authority leaders at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College to discuss north Georgia's top transportation projects, according to a county press release issued today.

Several current GDOT projects are expected to benefit local motorists, including widening and improvements at the intersection of highways 141 and 9, which includes the widening of Bethelview Road; the widening of Highway 20 from James Burgess Road to Burnett Trail in adjacent Gwinnett, which includes a bridge over the Chattahoochee River; and the replacement of several bridges on highways 53 and 369, reports the Forsyth County News.

Featured topics also included GA 400 and Highway 20 congestion. Cunard presented a summary, above, of Forsyth County Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax VI transportation projects and SPLOST VII projects in the works, according to the county.

Upcoming local projects include resurfacing Highway 9 from highways 20 to 369 and widening Highway 20 from Samples Road to James Burgess, according to the Forsyth County News. Several other widening projects are included in the current SPLOST.
