CUMMING, GA -- Dr. Thomas Seay, the late president of Atlanta Cancer Care who practiced at its Cumming and perimeter locations, has been honored by the state Senate for his work fighting cancer.
Senate Resolution 793, introduced by Sen. Renee Unterman, of Buford, honors “the life and memory” of Seay, who died unexpectedly on December 26.
Seay “was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live,” according to the resolution.

In addition to his work with ACC, Seay worked to advance scientific research in oncology, insuring that patients throughout Georgia have access to clinical trials.
He was the principal investigator for the Atlanta Regional Community Clinical Oncology Program. He served as chairman of the board of directors of the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (Georgia CORE), and he was instrumental in the development of the Clinical Research Network in Georgia, which is focused on the development of an integrated system of cancer care including academic and community centers.
Dr. Seay is survived by his wife, Cindy, and her daughter, Alex, both of whom were on hand for the reading last Tuesday.
