Easy Tips To Simplify Your Moving Day
Some tips to make moving day flow as seamlessly as possible.

Surprisingly (or not so surprisingly), mental health professionals list moving as one of the most stressful events in a person’s life, so while the prospect of starting a new chapter may be exciting, the transition period along the way can make getting there a bit of a hassle.
With that in mind, one of the best ways to deal with stressful periods is to make sure you’ve taken the time to lay out a course of action in advance.

Therefore, if you’re trying to tackle the moving process with an entire family in tow, consider the following tips to make moving day flow as seamlessly as possible.
TAKE A SHORT HIATUS FROM YOUR KIDS AND PETS. We know you love them. All of them. However, you may want to consider enlisting the help of a family member or friend to care for them during the day of your move. Plain and simple, children and pets can be a stressful responsibility on days when you are simply trying to get things done, so making the decision to place them somewhere safe while you’re dealing with the heavy lifting is probably a smart idea. Your main goal should be to focus on the move, so let someone else enjoy the tea parties and snuggles for a while. You’ll have plenty of time for that in your new home.

MAKE ROOM FOR THE MOVING TRUCK. All-too-often, many sellers forget that moving trucks take up a lot of space, which may be less-than-appreciated by the homeowners around you. Therefore, consider contacting your local officials to see if you need a permit to block of certain parts of the road and if not, try to explain the situation to your neighbors on the days leading up to the move.
PACK A BOX OF ESSENTIALS. There’s nothing worse than getting to your new home and realizing that you either don’t know where anything is packed or simply cannot reach what you need. To eliminate this headache, make a point to pack a well-marked box or two with supplies that will serve you during the first few days in your new home. Consider adding things such as linens, toiletries, clothing, pet food, favorite toys for the kids, and non-perishable snacks.
STAY INVOLVED. Chances are good that you’ve hired professional movers to deal with the heavy lifting. However, it’s still in your best interest to remain at your old home until everything has been packed and loaded onto the truck. A) You’ll want to make sure that nothing gets left behind, and B) the movers may come across issues that may require your attention.
CLEAN UP, CLEAN UP… Most closing contracts will require the home to be broom cleaned once everything is moved out, so make sure you’re already armed with cleaning supplies or—even better—the funds to hire a professional to do the cleaning for you. If you have to do it yourself, consider tackling as much as you can before moving day gets there. The less you have to do after everything has been taken out of the home, the better.
