Forsyth Closures, Winter Weather Updates For Jan 18

Forsyth County government has issued a winter weather update for Thursday, Jan. 18.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office reports that the county's main roads in the are drivable. The side roads still have icy spots and will require more time to melt. In some cases on the side roads, the ice covers a good portion of the road. They advise to take your time this morning driving.

The Sheriff's Office reports secondary roadways impacted by snow and ice, and anticipate small areas of significant black ice as refreezing occured. Forsyth County is continuing to sand and place salt on secondary roads. Things should improve around noon.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Administrative Offices and Forsyth County Government Offices will have a delayed opening until 11 a.m. This includes the Sheriff's Office, County Government Offices and the Courthouse. The courts open at 9 a.m. traffic arraignment is cancelled but the 1 p.m. traffic arraignment calendar is still on.

Forsyth County Schools will be doing an online learning day and students will not be reporting to school. FCSO, FOCO Government and Emergency Operations Center all collaborated with Schools in the decision making process to keep kids safe.
