Forsyth Commissioner Surprised Opponent Distances Himself From GOP
David Hole says he doesn't consider himself connected to any political camp, according to the Todd Levent campaign.

Editor's Note: The following is a press release from the campaign to Re-Elect Todd Levent as Forsyth County Commissioner.
Forsyth County Commissioner Todd Levent said Monday he isn't surprised developer David Hole challenged him for his District 3 seat on the Board of Commissioners only that his opponent quickly distanced himself from the Forsyth County Republican Party.
"He's a friend and political ally of the sheriff," Levent said. "He campaigned for Sheriff Piper, donated money to his campaign and held fundraisers for him. I've opposed many of the sheriff's policies. So my sources tell me the sheriff went out and recruited a 'yes man' to run against me."

While Levent said Hole's campaign came as no surprise, he was shocked at how quickly his opponent distanced himself from the Forsyth County Republican Party.
"Forsyth County is one of the most Republican counties in the nation," Levent added. "For him to declare that he doesn't feel connected to the vast majority of our voters as he did in his press release shows how out of touch he is with Forsyth County values. If he's not connected to the Republican Party, he can't run in the Repubican Primary in May."

Levent said he has opposed many of Piper's policies, including the firing of 11 highly-competent deputies and the donation of county-owned property to the Savannah-Chatham County Police Department. "Now I'm hearing the sheriff plans to abandon the south end of the county by moving all of the Uniform Patrol to the North Precinct, an initiative that I will strongly oppose but my opponent will likely rubber stamp for his friend."
