CUMMING, GA — Starting Friday, shelter pets living at the Forsyth County Animal Shelter will be heading to their furever homes free of charge.

In an promotion called the "Summer of Love" adoption program, the shelter is waving its standard $85 adoption fee.

“We are very excited to give residents a chance to bring home a pet at no cost,” Animal Shelter Manager Cindy Iacopella said in a statement. “All of the pets in the shelter deserve a good home, and we are hopeful that this promotion will help families bring a new companion home this summer.”
