Forsyth Pitcher Chosen for All-America Game

CUMMING, GA — A pitcher from Forsyth Central has been selected to play in a nationwide gathering of all-stars this weekend in Chicago.
Ethan Hankins, a junior, will take part in the 2017 Under Armour All-America Baseball Game, to be played at iconic Wrigley Field.
The game brings together the top 40 high school players in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico and will be broadcast on the MLB Network.

Hankins, who is 6'6" and weighs 210 pounds, was stellar this season, earning the Forsyth County News' Pitcher of the Year title. He finished the season with a miniscule .90 earned-run average and struck out 77 batters in 46 2/3 innings.
A rising senior, he has committed to play collegiate baseball at Vanderbilt University.

Under Armour All-Americans are selected by a committee of professional scouts and will compete in an American vs. National team match-up. The All-America Baseball Game caps off a four-day, comprehensive baseball experience staffed by some of the game’s best players and coaches, including a formal workout in front of Major League Baseball scouts and a home run derby.
"Each athlete selected to attend should feel a sense of accomplishment, and we’re excited to continue investing in this great game’s next class of young superstars," said Ryan Collins, Director of Global Sports Marketing at Under Armour. "This summer will mark a decade of our commitment to hosting this game, and we are proud to extend a one-of-a-kind opportunity to players to showcase and grow their talents at the national level."
Since the game’s inception in 2008, 284 of the 323 draft eligible players from the Under Armour All-America Game have been selected in the MLB Amateur Draft, including 83 first round picks.
