Georgia Weather Forecast: A Stormy Start To The Weekend

Metro Atlanta will see high temperatures in the 80s after a storm front moves through Georgia late Friday and early Saturday.

ATLANTA, GA — A stormy Friday night and Saturday should give way to a sunny Sunday in metro Atlanta this weekend.

Georgia's weather forecast is calling for showers and storms starting Friday afternoon and continuing all the way into the afternoon Saturday. But after that, folks hitting the Shaky Knees music festival or enjoying other outdoor activities should be able to shed their ponchos on Sunday.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather advisory for Friday and Saturday, saying a few storms may be severe, with the main hazards being damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning and brief heavy rain.

High temperatures are expected to be in the mid-70s on Saturday and to get back up to 80 on Sunday.

Friday night: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2 a.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. Patchy fog after 4 a.m. Low around 63. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3 p.m. Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. Saturday night, mostly clear with a low around 58. North wind 5 to 10 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 15 m.p.h.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 80. Clear Sunday night, with a low around 61.
