Alarii also finished third in the 800 Freestyle Relay. He says, “The Irish Open was an awesome experience. The best part about the team was that no matter where we were from, what we believed, what our personalities were, or what social group we were a part of back home, we all were there for each other as team USA swimmers.
“The whole time the team grew closer and no matter if we were tired, sore, fatigued, or feeling ‘off,’ we always threw down our absolute best efforts and raced our hearts out.”
Lauren said, “It was…an eye-opening experience to meet so many fans from Ireland. They were intrigued by us, and we were often asked for autographs and pictures. I had never felt so humbled before.
I was very pleased with my results and was happy to be able to step up and compete for my country. It’s an honor to represent the United States. I have come home from this trip with so much more knowledge and experience, and it has me inspired to continue to perform at this level and make more international trips so that I can continue to represent the U.S. “
Chattahoochee Gold is based at the Woodstock Aquatic Center and its swimmers also train at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center, the Mountain View Aquatic Center in East Cobb and the Cumming Aquatic Center in Forsyth County.
