Halcyon Hosting Celebration For International Doodle Dog Day
This weekend, Halcyon is hosting metro Atlanta's celebration for International Doodle Dog Day on Sunday.
CUMMING, GA — Grab your furry friends and head to Halcyon this Sunday to celebrate International Doodle Dog Day. All poodle-mix breeds, other dogs and their humans are invited to visit the Forsyth County destination for an afternoon of dog-loving fun and free activities.
Upon arrival, guests are invited to check in at the Halcyon table in the Village Green to pick up a schedule of events and swag (while supplies last). From there, guests and their pets can visit participating restaurants and retailers for special treats including Unexpected Pooch, travel dog bowls from Mercedes-Benz Experience Center by RBM of Alpharetta, "puppuccinos" at Kilwins and Land of a Thousand Hills and peanut butter treats at Cherry Street Brewpub. Guests can also take photos in the vintage Volkswagen bus, join the pooch parades at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., play Doggy Bingo in the Village Green, dine on one of Halcyon's dog-friendly patios, browse the dog-friendly boutiques or enjoy a walk along the Big Creek Greenway, connected to Halcyon.
Created by the popular online pet boutique Ripley & Rue in 2017, International Doodle Dog Day has previously been held on the first Sunday in May, but due to the impacts of COVID-19, the widely celebrated event was postponed until Sept. 20. The event is intended to celebrate Doodle breeds from all over the world. In 2019, over 75 major cities across the globe participated in the “Day for the Doods,” including San Francisco, New York and Melbourne.
