High School Service Team Raises $4,410 for Children's Health Care

Students at Pinecrest Academy Traveled to Athens, Georgia, in February to Participate in UGA Miracle

Juniors at Pinecrest Academy participate in a service initiative each year called "Ignite," whereby teams are formed to complete service throughout the school year for a cause of choice.

One of the Ignite teams, under the guidance of high school teacher, Mrs. Mitchell, raised $4,410 for Children's Health Care of Atlanta (CHOA), through a partnership with UGA Miracle, an organization that partners with CHOA to provide funds for families and children within the rehabilitation wing. All of the money raised goes straight to families who have children in the Hospital long-term. The students fundraised by selling Christmas cookies, chicken biscuits, and through personal fundraising efforts.

The students attended a Dance Marathon at the University of Georgia in Athens on February 18, where they met and heard stories from "miracle families," danced for the children, and presented the UGA Miracle program with a check.
