Icon Fest Kicks Off Summer Music Series At Cumming Fairgrounds

CUMMING, GA — If you missed your chance to see Prince, Michael Jackson or Freddie Mercury in person, you might be able to get the next best thing this weekend.

The City of Cumming's Summer Music Series kicks off Saturday, June 8th, from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Cumming Fairgrounds with the Icon Fest. Some of the nation's best tribute artists to Prince, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and others will be performing.

As part of the City's summer music series at the Fairgrounds, which was first held in 2018, the City has again partnered with local businesses 37 Main, and Rosati's Pizza and Sports Pub to present a range of fun summer concerts throughout the hottest months of 2019.

The Icon Fest will take audiences back to the 1980's with some of the nation's hottest tribute acts dedicated to the music of Prince (The Purple Xperience from Minneapolis, Minn.), Michael Jackson (I Am King from Las Vegas, Nev.) and Madonna (So Madonna from Los Angeles, Calif.), as well as Atlanta I Heart Radio's own DJ One Time (tribute to Freddie Mercury and Queen).

The event is rain or shine and tickets can be purchased online. The concert is open to all ages, and food trucks will be on site. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

THE PURPLE XPERIENCE

The Purple Xperience is a five-piece group hailing from Prince’s birthplace, Minneapolis, Minnesota. They have been touring around the country since its inception in 2011 by Dr. Fink and front-man Marshall Charloff – bringing the greatest and most authentic production of Prince and The Revolution in the world to audiences of all generations. Since 2011 Purple Xperience has entertained well over 300 thousand fans and has shared the bill with The Time, Cameo, Fetty Wap, Gin Blossoms, Atlanta Rhythm section, and Cheap Trick.

Featuring Michael Jackson tribute artists who can sing live while mastering the intense dancing that Jackson was so famous for, I AM KING takes the audience on a musical and visual journey into the world of the KING OF POP. The creators of I AM KING have put together an incredible cast of talented musicians and Broadway and Las Vegas dancers to bring Jackson to life in an explosion of unmatched energetic perfection. I AM KING features amazing renditions of Jackson’s biggest hits including “Bad”,”Billie Jean”, “Thriller”, “Man in the Mirror”, “Human Nature” and many more.

So Madonna

Based in Los Angeles, So Madonna is the Ultimate Tribute Act to 1980’s Madonna! Focusing on the material girl’s glory days ('83-'90), they dress up, celebrate, and make every day feel like a holiday, complete with iconic wardrobe changes, choreography, and memorable Madonna moments. Playing your favorites, from “Borderline” and “Burning Up” to “Like A Prayer” and “Vogue,” they’ll make you get up on the dance floor.

Bad Romance

Bad Romance: A Tribute To Lady GaGa, is the jaw dropping Lady GaGa experience. A live show playing all the hits you love.

It all kicks off in June with the Icon Music Festival on June 8 and Gigging 4 Grub: Nashville Downtown on June 29.

Gigging 4 Grub: Nashville Downtown takes audiences on a completely different path with tribute bands honoring of some of country's biggest stars. Get your country twang on with the music of legends such Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, and George Jones, as well as special guest band Southern Hospitality. Proceeds from the Gigging 4 Grub concert benefit The Place of Forysth County to help hungry children through the No Kid Hungry effort.
