ICYMI: New Park To Open In Cumming
Forsyth County officials will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Phase I of Lanierland Park next Wednesday.

CUMMING, GA — A new, 109-acre park is set to officially open to the public next week in Cumming.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony at Lanierland Park, on Jot Em Down Road, is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29.
Funded largely by a parks and greenspace bond approved by voters in 2008, the park will feature four synthetic turf fields, four picnic pavilions, a playground, restrooms and concession facilities.

The ribbon-cutting next Wednesday will be for the opening of the park's first phase.
Named after a music venue formerly on the site, Lanierland Park will play host to some of the sporting events currently held at Bennett Park.

The music venue, which hosted country music acts, closed in 2006 and the county bought the property in 2009.
