Pinecrest Academy’s junior class experienced a new tradition called Passing the Torch, a milestone event signifying their move to becoming leaders of the high school. Passing the Torch took place on April 24 in the school's Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel, a meaningful ceremony, whereby graduating seniors “passed the torch” on to the juniors.

The ceremony opened with a welcome from Mrs. Zalzman, High School Principal, and an explanation of the new tradition by Mrs. Price, High School Assistant Principal. Seniors Annemarie Doxtader and Joe Garcia, Student Council presidents, addressed students, offering words of advice and encouragement for the Class of 2020, as they become leaders of the school.

Each junior received a blessed saint St. Theresa of Calcutta medal, with a card bearing one of her famous quotes, chosen by the senior class. They offered advice to the Class of 2020 to call upon St. Theresa for strength and guidance during their senior year.
