Three Forsyth County K9 deputies have been given ballistic vests thanks to the generosity of a local resident and a nonprofit dedicated to protecting dogs serving on the front lines in the fight against crime.

Bowi, Draco, and Hummer received state-of-the-art ballistic vests through Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department said on its Facebook page. The vests were paid for by Joe Radack, who donated the $2,850 needed to get three vests for the furry deputies. Two more Forsyth County K9 deputies are expected to receive vests from Vested Interest soon, the sheriff’s office said.
