New Policy Allows Forsyth Residents To Apply For Water Services

The Forsyth Commission approved a new waterline extension policy that outlines how residents can apply for county water services.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — The Forsyth Commission approved a new waterline extension policy that outlines how residents can apply for county water services in areas currently not served by the Forsyth County Department of Water & Sewer.

This policy establishes the parameters for addressing ad hoc petitions for waterline extensions that are not specified in the Forsyth County Department of Water & Sewer capital improvement plan.

Residents within the Forsyth County Department of Water & Sewer service boundary seeking to have county water services provided can request services by filling out a petition for a county waterline found on the Forsyth County Department of Water & Sewer webpage. To determine if a residence is currently in the county’s water service area, visit online.

All petitions for waterline extension will be evaluated on an annual basis. Exceptions may be granted based on special circumstances as determined by the Forsyth County Department of Water & Sewer and approved by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners. The Forsyth County Department of Water & Sewer will review each petition to estimate the cost and financial viability of the proposed waterline extension. A recommendation to approve or deny each petition will be made to the Board of Commissioners annually based on the business case and priority of the petition. Full details, including the criteria for petition prioritization, can be found in the waterline extension policy.
