Northside Hospital Forsyth Welcomes First Baby Of 2019

A Smyrna couple became first-time parents with the arrival of a baby boy on New Year's Day at Northside Hospital Forsyth in Cumming.

CUMMING, GA — Northside Hospital Forsyth celebrated the arrival Tuesday of the first baby born at its facility in 2019.

Parents Satya Mukkavilla and Phani Peddis of Smyrna delivered a healthy baby boy at 2:35 p.m. on New Year's Day, according to a hospital spokeswoman. The baby weighed 8 pounds and 2 ounces.

The first-time parents had not chosen the baby’s name before he arrived because he came so early, according to a hospital statement.

“My water broke just after midnight, and I couldn’t really believe it since my due date wasn’t until January 10th,” Mom Satya said on Tuesday.

“Having a New Year’s baby was the furthest from our minds," she said. "We thought we had at least nine more days to finalize our baby’s name! But we will decide on it for sure by tonight.”
