Pinecrest Academy Graduates 72 from Class of 2019

All graduates college-accepted, six to play sports in college, one to give missionary year

Pinecrest Academy graduated all 72 members of the Class of 2019 on Saturday, May 18, 2019, with hundreds in attendance during a standing room only ceremony. The evening prior, the traditional Baccalaureate Mass was celebrated for the graduates, their families, friends, faculty, and staff.

Valedictorians for the Class of 2019 were Maddie Sullivan and Nick Kelhofer. Salutatorians were Moriah Jones and Ben Meersman. Integer Award recipients were Rachel Dougal and Patrick Sullivan. The Integer is the highest award a graduating senior can receive at Pinecrest Academy. This award is granted to the boy and girl in the graduating class who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the ideals of the school by excelling in all the areas of Integral Formation -- intellectual, human, spiritual and apostolic.

This class received $7.7 million in scholarship awards, with total acceptances from almost 90 colleges and universities. Every member of the class was accepted to a college or university. The Class of 2019 boasts 42 Hope Scholarship recipients and 24 Zell Miller Scholarship recipients.

Graduating senior, Nick Kelhofer, was named a 2019 National Merit Commended Scholar and was also the recipient of the Page Foundation’s STAR student award. This award recognizes students across Atlanta who score extremely well on a single administration of the SAT by declaring them STAR students.

Hogan Palmer was awarded the Presidential Scholarship to Rollins College, in the amount of $120,000. This award was based on academic performance, as well as service and involvement, an SAT score higher than 1290 or an ACT higher than 27.

Maddie Sullivan was awarded a $226,000 scholarship to the University of Notre Dame.

Six members of the Class of 2019 will go on to play sports in college, including:

Joe Garcia - Baseball, United States Military Academy

Drew Hendren - Lacrosse, Belmont Abbey College

Patrick O'Rourke - Baseball, Berry College

Hogan Palmer - Lacrosse, Rollins College

Zach Schechtman - Butler University, Football

Haley Triplett - Soccer, Georgia State University

One student, Integer recipient for the girls, Rachel Dougal, is deferring her acceptance to the University of Georgia to serve the Catholic Church for a missionary year.

The Class of 2019 was the thirteenth graduating class at Pinecrest Academy.
