Pinecrest Academy Names New Head Coach for Varsity Girls Lacrosse
Coach Alex Abbey Attended Lambert High School in Forsyth County, Earned Seven Varsity letters

Mary Alexandra (Alex) Abbey has been named new Head Coach for Pinecrest Academy’s Varsity Girls Lacrosse team.
Abbey grew up in south Forsyth County and graduated from Lambert High School, where she earned seven varsity letters - four in Lacrosse and three in Basketball. During high school, she also competed in AAU Basketball and was coached by former Pinecrest Academy Girls' Basketball Coach Ken Lacy.
She earned a B.S. in History at Shorter University, where she received a scholarship to play Lacrosse (NCAA Div II) and was a 3-year starter. After graduating, Abbey stayed at Shorter in the capacity of Graduate Assistant, helping coach the Women's Lacrosse team during the 2017-2018 season, while working toward an M.B.A. in Sports Management.

Abbey is currently completing her M.B.A. online as she joins Pinecrest Academy for the 2018-2019 school year. In addition to her Head Coach duties for Varsity Girls Lacrosse, she will also assist Coach Jonathan Oshinski in coaching the Varsity Girls Basketball team.
"We are really excited for Alex to join the Pinecrest family. Her vast experience as a player and a coach will be a great asset for our girls, both on the Lacrosse field and on the Basketball court,” commented Chris Kane, Pinecrest Academy Athletic Director.
