Pinecrest Graduating Seniors Earn Honors Logging More Than 2,140 Service Hours

Students served abroad, including travels to Nicaragua on a Senior Mission Trip, and also served regularly in Forsyth County

One of the pillars of a Pinecrest Academy education is Apostolic Formation, which is, simply put, generosity of self to Christ. Apostolic formation at Pinecrest brings Intellectual, Human and Spiritual Formation into harmony by providing the opportunity to discern Christ’s call for one’s life, embrace that call, and bring others to know Him as well.

The Class of 2017 exemplified this pillar, with countless service hours they gave over the school year and throughout their high school careers at Pinecrest. Students served abroad, including travels to Nicaragua on the annual Senior Mission Trip, and they also served regularly in Cumming and Forsyth County, and throughout Atlanta.

This group of students from the private PreK3-12 Catholic school in Cumming assisted the poor, loved children with disabilities, visited with the elderly, donated to the needy, and served countless others with selfless donation of time and talents.

Pinecrest high school students who accumulate 30 service hours by the end of each school year are placed on the Service Honor Roll, and those who have earned 50 or more hours are placed on the High Service Honor Roll.

Additionally, graduating seniors who have earned 120 hours or more during their high school careers receive the Service Honor Cord that is worn at Graduation. Fifty seniors from the Class of 2017 collectively gave well over 2,140 service hours, earning High Service Honor Roll or Service Honor Roll for 2017.
