Pinecrest Kindergartners Become Mini Engineers Through STEM Experience
Students Participate in Nationally Acclaimed Project Lead the Way Launch Program
Pinecrest Academy Kindergartners were excited to discover how engineers solve problems using the engineering design process, during a recent STEM class. They participated in the nationally acclaimed elementary Project Lead the Way Launch program, during which they designed, built and tested a beanstalk that would support Jack and the Golden Egg, as well as built houses for the Three Little Pigs that could withstand the force of the Big Bad Wolf! Students also used the design process to sketch, build, test, and reflect on a new design for a paintbrush.
Throughout the year, all Pinecrest Lower School students will have an opportunity to design and test new solutions to everyday problems in the STEM classroom. This elementary program provides a strong foundation for later middle and high school classes, whereby STEM is an established part of the Pinecrest curriculum.
