Pinecrest Student Wins Optimist International Oratorical Area Competition

Sixth Grader Charlie Dougal One of Five in County Competing

Pinecrest Academy 6th grader, Charlie Dougal, won the Area Competition of the 2016 Optimist International Oratorical Contest on Saturday, April 16, 2016. He was among five students in the County who had made it to this level in the contest.

The next event Dougal will compete in is the District contest on May 1, 2016, during which 12 students from Georgia and other participating states will compete. One winner will be selected to go to the International convention in St. Louis, where the top award is $22,500.

Dougal, his parents and Pinecrest Middle School teacher, Mrs. Cattanach, attended a luncheon on April 18 for County winners at Northside Forsyth Hospital. Dougal gave his speech and was awarded $500 for being a County winner.
