The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955.

Pinecrest Academy senior Allie Doerr has been named a National Merit® Scholarship Finalist.
The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Approximately 1.6 million high school students enter the program each year. Of the 1.6 million entrants, some 50,000 with the highest PSAT/NMSQT® scores qualify for recognition in the Program.
In September, Doerr and other high scorers were notified that they qualified as Semifinalists. Semifinalists are the highest scoring entrants in each state.

To be considered for a National Merit® Scholarship, Semifinalists must advance to Finalist standing by meeting high academic standards and all other requirements of the Program.
Scholarship winners will be announced later in the school year.
