Police: 3 of 5 Children Not Buckled Up in Cumming Woman's Car

An officer spotted the driver on Market Place Boulevard and from prior knowledge, knew she did not have a driver's license, according to the police report.

A Cumming woman driving on Market Place Boulevard was unlicensed with three of the five children in her car not buckled up.

A Cumming Police Department officer on patrol spotted Erika Yager, 30, driving about 1:15 p.m. on Dec. 21, and had prior knowledge Yager did not have a driver's license, according to the police report.

Yager, a resident of Karr Road, had five children in the 2010 silver, four-door Chrysler PT Cruiser she was driving. Three children in the back seat, ages 6, 8 and 10, had no safety restraints, according to police.

The officer told Yager to call a licensed driver to pick up the children, but a woman with a learner's permit showed up. The second woman was cited and told to have two licensed drivers come to pick up her, her vehicle and the children.

Yager's vehicle was left in a parking lot, per her request. She was arrested, taken to the Cumming Jail and charged with driving without a valid license and three child safety belt violations.
