Senate Honors Forsyth County Sheriff's Department

Forsyth deputies were honored for their courageous actions in the attack against the Forsyth County courthouse last summer.

Georgia Senator Michael Williams, a Cumming resident, sponsored a Senate resolution Thursday, honoring the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department for their actions at the June 6 courthouse shooting.

“The officers of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department are true heroes,” Senator Williams said. “They put their own personal safety aside to protect the individuals at the courthouse and their actions are well deserving of recognition and honor. I want to thank the officers for their bravery and commitment to public safety; their actions will not be forgotten.”

On June 6, Forsyth deputies engaged Dennis Marx, who attacked the courthouse armed with multiple firearms and explosives. Marx was ultimately during the incident.
