Shawn Coury Returns to Pinecrest as Head Football Coach
Coury has served 23 seasons as a high school football coach

Pinecrest Academy is pleased to welcome Mr. Shawn Coury back to Pinecrest Academy as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for the Paladins.
Coury has served 23 seasons as a high school football coach, coaching teams from South Forsyth High School, West Forsyth High School, Cherokee High School, Holy Spirit Preparatory School, and Pinecrest Academy. His roles have included head coach, offensive coordinator, run game coordinator, offensive line coach, running backs coach, wide receivers coach, and quarterbacks coach. “I have been blessed to serve in multiple roles in many types of schools,'' commented Coury. “I have had the opportunity to learn from every experience God has given. It has made me a better coach and a better leader.”
Coury’s coaching experience doesn’t end with football. He has enjoyed 18 seasons as a high school track coach for South Forsyth High School, Cherokee High School, and Pinecrest Academy. Fifteen of those seasons were spent serving as head coach.

Coury is also a nationally certified strength and conditioning coach, spending 13 years as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at West Forsyth High School, Cherokee High School, Holy Spirit Preparatory School, and Pinecrest Academy. “Except for the Friday Night Lights, there is nothing I love more as a coach than to work side-by-side with my athletes, preparing them for the physical demands of their sports,” said Coury.
Coury originally joined Pinecrest Academy in 2007, and his wife, Kelly, joined him as a teacher in 2014. He departed Pinecrest in 2016 to pursue an opportunity with Holy Spirit Prep, serving as the head football coach and the strength and conditioning coordinator. “Holy Spirit Prep was a great blessing for my family; we built many great relationships there. While leaving HSP was difficult, as we were leaving new friends behind, Cumming has always been home. It was important to my family to return to Forsyth County, and in doing so, to rejoin the Pinecrest family.”
