If you’ve made a point to step outside before 8am these last few mornings, it’s no surprise that fall is in the air. Sure, our afternoons may still be toeing the line of uncomfortably warm; however, as September turns into October, those higher temperatures are sure to give way to the crisp days of autumn.
With that being said, some homeowners are often hesitant to market their homes outside of the spring/summer real estate “season,” but it’s worth pointing out that fall is a fantastic time to list your home. The goal of finding a potential buyer is making all who enter your space feel undeniably comfortable, especially if we assume that no one is going to make an offer on a property that doesn’t make them feel at home.
Therefore, instead of shying away from the cooler temperatures, make a point to the use the coziness of autumn to your advantage.

Focus on Curb Appeal. Sure, you should never judge a book by its cover, but we all do, don’t we? First impressions are important, so making a point to maintain beautiful curb appeal amongst browning grass and falling leaves is vital.
Take extra care with your walkways and lawn by making sure that they stay free of leaves and other debris, and consider planting some autumn flowers that will bring a bit of color into the yard. Add a few pumpkins to the front porch and don’t be afraid to add a few tasteful autumn decorations.

BRING LIGHT INTO THE HOUSE. Once we turn the clocks back the days are going to get a lot shorter, so when staging your interior, make sure the blinds are open and the lights are on. No one wants to walk into a depressingly dark space, so bring in some extra lighting if necessary and light a few candles for a bit of inviting ambiance.
Again, the more inviting the home, the quicker the sale.
COMFORT IS KEY. Just the thought of fall makes many of us want to curl up under a blanket with a cup of coffee, so make a point to tap into that feeling! Showing off how comfortable your home is will go a long way towards encouraging buyer interest.
Consider adding comfortable throws and pillows in autumn-themed colors and bake some cookies for a touch of deliciousness in the air. Remember, most buyers are looking for a place that will serve as a respite from the outside world, so it’s important to make them feel at ease the minute they step inside.
ACCENT WITH AUTUMN HUES. As mentioned above, adding touches of fall colors throughout your home can make a big difference. While it may be difficult to do in some rooms, depending upon your color scheme or overall design, consider adding things like red or orange pillows to neutral colored furniture or fluffy autumn towels in the bathroom.
