Sword Attack Triggered Fatal Forsyth Shooting: Report

A Cumming man was shot to death on Christmas Eve when he attacked his father with a sword in a domestic incident, says media report.

CUMMING, GA — The results of an autopsy showed that a Cumming man died early Monday, Dec. 24, when he was shot by his father in a domestic incident, according to a media report. Michael Allen Busbee attacked his father with a sword that's designed to be concealed inside a cane, the Forsyth County News reported.

Deputies with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office responded at about 12:25 a.m. Monday to the report of a shooting at a home on Berry Patch Drive in the Walnut Grove subdivision, according to the sheriff's office and media reports.

The subdivision is in northwest Forsyth, near Coal Mountain.

Cpl. Douglas Rainwater, a sheriff's office spokesman, identified the father as Charles Allen Busbee, 74. He said the son, Michael Busbee, was 46 years old.

Rainwater told the Forsyth County News that a preliminary investigation determined that the son was the aggressor in the incident, and drugs and alcohol were not believed to have been a factor.
