Thomas Ansley Honored with Eagle Scout Status

Only Four Percent of Scouts Achieve the Highest Rank in Boy Scouts

Thomas Ansley, a 2016 graduate of Pinecrest Academy, a private PreK-12 Catholic School serving north Atlanta and Forsyth County, achieved the level of Eagle Scout on June 23, 2016. Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Boy Scouts, and only about 4% of scouts achieve it.

The prospective Eagle Scout must have been in scouting for several years, earning a minimum of 21 merit badges. He must plan and execute a project that helps others or gives back to his local community.

Final review for Eagle Scout ranking considers whether the scout has demonstrated real Scout spirit and service to others, and he must receive several letters of recommendation.

For his Eagle Scout project, Ansley chose to repair a trail by a lake in his neighborhood. He added a picnic bench to the trail and re-faced two picnic benches along the lake. Fellow students from Pinecrest Academy assisted, in addition to scout and parent volunteers.
