Welcome to Our Turf

Pinecrest Academy made it official on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. The school’s athletic turf field is about to become a reality. Members from the Pinecrest Board of Directors, Athletics Department, the turf installation committee, and Fr. Daren Weisbrod, High School Chaplain, joined Dr. Ed Spurka, Head of School, for a groundbreaking and ground blessing to kick off the installation project.

The long-awaited turf field is coming to fruition, thanks to the generosity and dedication of many members of the Pinecrest Academy and local community. Pinecrest’s booster club, the Pinecrest Athletic Club, was vital in helping to procure donations that have made this project possible.

The turf install project officially began on May 20, 2019, as engineers from Pinnacle Design/Build Group and Deluxe Athletics began to measure and conduct site preparation.

Sod removal has taken place, and installation of the turf is in full-swing this summer. Plans are to unveil the new Turf Field for the first Paladins home Football game on Friday, September 13, 2019.

Pinecrest Academy is excited to make this transition from sod to turf for several reasons:

• Scheduling conflicts for athletic events, due to weather and the inability to use a sodded field, will be resolved;
• Efficiencies and savings will be realized in maintenance costs, time, set-up, and field lining for games;
• Pinecrest Athletics will be able to accommodate more community athletic events.

Completion of the turf athletic field will come directly on the heels of the new Lower School Building, which has been under construction since Summer 2018, and will be completed in time for the first day of school in August 2019.
