What's Open and Closed in Cumming, Forsyth on Thanksgiving

Here's what you need to know for Thursday and Friday.

Today is the last day this week you can handle any affairs with city and county government entities due to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

Both City of Cumming and Forsyth County offices will close on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27 to observe the holiday, though public safety personnel will still be on the job.

Trucks from the streets department will operate as normal on Monday and Wednesday to pick up yard debris, spokeswoman Crystal Ledford told Patch.

Rakestraw Sanitation, which handles the city’s garbage collection, will not collect on Thanksgiving Day. Residents who normally get their trash picked up on Thursday will have their trash picked up on Friday, Ledford said.

If you’re without a place to have a Thanksgiving meal, Cumming First United Methodist Church will be hosting a free lunch on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
