UK Mayor to Visit Mill Creek, Invite Band to Play in London
Pride of Mill Creek Marching Band to play in London's New Year's Day Parade for the second year in a row.

The Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster in the United Kingdom is scheduled to visit Mill Creek High School on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 9.a.m.
Robert Davis is making the appearance to personally invite the Pride of Mill Creek Marching Band to play in London’s New Year’s Day Parade for the second year in a row.
The parade, which started in 1987 with 2,000 mostly local performers, now involves up to 10,000 performers from around the world and a live TV audience of several hundred million.

Each year in the fall, the Lord Mayor decides upon a select number of groups that he or she wishes to visit in the United States in connection with London’s New Year’s Day Parade and Festival.
The visit is designed to inspire and reconfirm the importance of the invitation to groups already invited, or to render invitations to participate in future events.

The Mill Creek marching band is scheduled to perform for Mayor Davis after he tours the school. Immediately following the performance, Davis will officially deliver the invitation to London’s New Year’s Day Parade.
The Lord Mayor of Westminster, who is appointed annually and serves for one year, is considered the first citizen of the city of Westminster and is host to London’s New Year’s Day Parade and Festival. Westminster, where the parade takes place, is home to both the elected Government, (The Houses of Parliament) and the head of State (Buckingham Palace), of The United Kingdom.
