Mrytle Beach, SC — Country music legend and Hiram resident Travis Tritt said his tour bus was involved in a crash that left two people dead in South Carolina over the weekend.

In several posts on Twitter, Tritt reported the crash happened Saturday morning on Veterans Highway in Myrtle Beach.

"I’m told that two people were killed in tonight’s accident as the result of someone who was obviously driving drunk or impaired," Tritt said on Twitter. "Just a sober reminder to everyone to never drive if you’ve been drinking or impaired in any way. Uber or Lyft is just a phone call away."

Tritt's bus was sideswiped while trying to avoid the crash after a driver going the wrong way hit another car, Tritt said.

"The Jeep driver hit a pickup truck head on right in front of us. Thank God we are all okay. I feel so bad for those who died needlessly tonight. I’m literally shaken by what I witnessed. God bless those who died and their families," he said.

"Bus damage can be fixed, but lives cannot be replaced," he tweeted. "It could’ve been so much worse. God was obviously watching over us tonight."

Tritt had been performing Friday night in North Myrtle Beach.

According to the Horry County Fire and Rescue Deaprtment, two people died during a multi-vehicle crash about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, and a third person suffered minor injuries. The report did not identify victims.
