HOLLYWOOD, CA — America found out Monday night who earned the 2018 "American Idol" title. Was it the 19-year-old from Dallas, Georgia? Turns out there were no losers. Caleb Lee Hutchinson's "American Idol" dreams fell short Monday tonight but his girlfriend, Maddie Poppe, was named the winner.

Yes. The two revealed they have been girlfriend and boyfriend from almost the beginning of the show.

American Idol alum tweeted "Congratulations, ! What a fun finale! You all should be so proud! Can’t wait to catch you out on the road! Lots of tonight!!!"

And Idol judge and country superstar Luke Bryan said, "y’all are great together."

But "Hutch" and his "Hutch Puppies" will not be daunted. The "Hutch Puppies" and all of Georgia seem to believe in their hearts that the young man from South Paulding High School will still be a big country star. He's got the voice. He's got the authenticity. And he's already earned the key to the city and all Georgians' hearts.

Hutch told Patch earlier this month that no matter where he finished, his future will be bright.

"I'm really hoping this opens doors for me," he said. "I want to make a career out of music. I really feel like that's what I was born to do."
