Carpenter Retires After 24 Years With Paulding Sheriff's Office
A native of Maine and an ex-Marine, Sgt. Ted Carpenter retired from the force Sunday. He started as a jailer in 1997.

DALLAS, GA — A 24-year veteran of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office who started as a jailer and served under two different sheriffs retired Sunday.
Sgt. Ted Carpenter, a former U.S. Marine and a native of Maine, spent most of his career in the uniform patrol division answering calls for service, according to a statement Tuesday from the sheriff’s office.
“Ted was a great employee and was fun to mess with because he is from Maine and had a Northern accent. He was a hard worker, both on and off duty,” said Sheriff Gary Gulledge.

Carpenter started on May 14, 1997, as a jailer. In 1998, he underwent basic law-enforcement training and eventually transferred to the uniform patrol division, where he was promoted to deputy sheriff. After a number of years supervising the night shift, Carpenter was eventually promoted to day shift and the rank of sergeant.
“We are going to miss Ted. I hope he gets to enjoy time with his family, relax, go fishing, and watch the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots as much as he wants,” Gulledge said.
