Georgia Weather Forecast For February

We'll see warmer temperatures, but only for a short time.

Winter break? How about a little break from winter.

Blizzard conditions filled the Mid-Atlantic with snow, and offered us a few slick commutes in January. But the weather story in February is going to be high temperatures before cooling off, again.

The month starts with a storm threat by Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

As for temperatures, the month will be the “polar opposite” of February 2015, according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Evan Duffey.

“February will begin with a significant change to the weather pattern across the eastern United States,” he said.

Although a storm system is forecast to bring snow and severe weather to the Midwest, mild air from the Gulf of Mexico will surge northward and bring a stretch of above-average temperatures.

Record-high temperatures will reach the 80s across the Southeast in the first part of February, according to AccuWeather. The warmup in February will mean temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal.

Sadly, it won’t last, according to The Weather Channel. Forecasters suggest the rest of the country will see a warmer February overall, but below average temperatures will settle in here in the South.

And don’t put the jackets away just yet. The cold air is expected to linger into March and possibly April.
