Donald Edward “Gator” Powell, age 78 of Dallas, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015. He was born May 31, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late George Powell and the late Marie Sieble Powell. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was a truck driver. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, holding memberships with the Two Dogs Motorcycle Club and the Atlanta Harley-Davidson. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 111 and was a member of the Mableton (Leland) Lodge, #171 F.&A.M.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Laura Powell, they were married for thirty six years; two brothers, Ron Powell and Wayne Powell and sister, Carol Gibbons.

Survivors are Sonja Wood, his companion of twenty five years; his children and their spouses: Deborah Longoria of Douglasville, Kim and Rick Sellers of Dallas, David and Christy Powell of Buchanan and Randy and Terry Powell of Dallas; brother and sister-in-law: Paul and Brenda Powell of Mason, Ohio, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 1, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Heritage Baptist Church in Douglasville. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends, Friday, May 1, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
