Murder-Suicide Attempt Has 1 Dead, 1 Critically Wounded: Sheriff

PAULDING COUNTY, GA — A woman is dead and a man is clinging to life after what authorities said they believe was an attempted murder-suicide in Dallas.

Deanna Jean Rose, 27, was found dead of a gunshot wound Sunday by Paulding County deputies answering a 911 call at a home on Hitchcock Road. Also found in the home was David Vern Price, 56, “who appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,” according to a statement from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office. Price was airlifted to a metro Atlanta hospital, where on Wednesday he was listed in critical condition.

“The evidence suggests that Price shot and killed Rose and then attempted to kill himself,” said spokesperson Ashley Henson. He added the sheriff’s office had held off making a statement until the victims’ next of kin could be notified. If Price survives his injuries, he will face multiple charges including felony murder, Henson said.
